Spirometric evaluation of pulmonary function in Yazd’s dental laboratory workers in 1398

​abstract Introduction: Spirometry is a common device screening in occupational pulmonary disease. Dental laboratory workers usually are exposed to vapor, toxic gases, dust, metallic alloys, acrylics, and stones. Aim of This study was a Spirometric evaluation of the pulmonary function of Yazd’s dental laboratory workers. Method and materials: in this cross-sectional study 37 Yazd’dental technicians in spring 1398 were evaluated for the survey of pulmonary problems and function. A standard pulmonary questionnaire and spirometry test according to ATS/ ESR was used. Data were analyzed with Spss 18 software by Mann- Whitney U, chi-square and studentchr('39')s T-test. Results: mean age of participants was 35.59±1.13 .work experience above 15 years old had most frequency.54% of participate had no respiratory symptom and the most common respiratory complain were dry and exudative cough. Overall respiratory parameters were in normal limits. The work field was the only effective factor on FVC%. Age, work experience and physical activities had no significant effect on respiratory parameters. Overall spirometry parameters were in normal pattern range and only 5% of participants were showing an obstructive respiratory pattern. Conclusion: due to the result of this study Spirometric pulmonary function of Yazd’dental laboratory technicians was in the normal range. Possibly working in the dental laboratory did not have a significant effect on the pulmonary Function of technicians based on spirometric indices.
